Frequently asked questions
What leaves my network?
The agent reports inventory metadata — IPs, MACs, hostnames, status changes, and event logs — over outbound HTTPS (443). It does not ship your traffic contents.
What probing happens inside my network?
All plans get controlled active probing (ARP/ping) within the subnets you select — free scans every 10 minutes, paid can go as often as every 10 seconds. Continuous passive listening (ARP/mDNS/NetBIOS) and optional nmap are paid-plan features.
Does one agent cover my whole network, including other VLANs or sites?
No — each agent instance is scoped to the subnet/VLAN you register it on, not discovered automatically. Passive listening only sees that local broadcast domain; another VLAN or site needs its own instance. Switch port context via SNMP is per-switch too — you add each switch's read-only credentials, it isn't network-wide auto-discovery.
Which OS and permissions are required?
Linux (systemd) runs the full agent today. A Windows agent is coming soon. Installing the service requires sudo (root privileges) because discovery uses raw sockets.
How is /24 billing counted?
The free plan manages one /24 at $0. Paid plans are billed per /24-equivalent you manage — $10/month each (or $100/year). Larger subnets count as multiple: a /23 counts as two /24s. No per-device or per-user fees.
What's the difference in scan interval between free and paid?
Free plans run active scans (ARP/ping) every 10 minutes, fixed. Paid plans can scan as often as every 10 seconds, configurable per instance, and add continuous passive listening on top — devices show up between scans too.
Does connecting AI send my inventory to an AI company?
AI access is optional, and IPUIPU never sends your inventory proactively. It only answers approved requests, limited to the connected user's or token's role and instance scope. What you send through your AI tool is governed by that provider's data policy.
Can I start read-only, without any blocking?
Yes. The free tier is view-and-organize only. Block/unblock actions exist only on paid plans, restricted to admins with an explicit confirmation step.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your workspace is kept for 30 days after cancellation so you can come back or export, then permanently deleted.
